Women’s Work: Fitting Men’s Oversized Watches into Your Wardrobe

Women love wearing men’s watches for the same reason we love stealing their boyfriend’s shirts; wearing something clunky and oversized can be so darn comfy. As any good fashionista knows, the first rule about fashion is knowing how to balance large shapes without looking bulky.
It’s amazing what a masculine watch can do to an ensemble—and I don’t just mean your pajamas. A clunky watch can add a touch of whimsy to a drab wardrobe, a strong counterpoint to a delicate ensemble, a solid piece in a gaggle of accessories. Pairing the right watch with your look is a great way to tap into the trend while still getting something that you love. Here are some of my favorite combinations:

The Intrepid Explorer
Breitling watches were originally designed for pilots back in the days before WWII, but these days they can add an international feel to your daywear. Why not pair the Model AB0510U4.BB62.152A? The technical aspects of the watch feature a globe design and the names of major international cities along the bezel along with a fantastic chronograph option. It’s the perfect piece if you want to add an adventurous vibe to a drab ensemble.
Watch’n’Wear: Just pair with a well-worn set of jeans and a military style jacket to look like the next Amelia Earhart!

Woman of Steel
You might think that a men’s watch would look out of place in a delicate ensemble, but they can be a great addition! The heavy, masculine feel to the watch actually can make the rest of your outfit seem even more feminine by comparison and can be a subtle way to add depth to your look. For example, the Raymond Weil Freelancer 2770-ST-65001 isn’t overpoweringly masculine, but the bold lines of the indices and larger size of the stainless steel watch aren’t found in most women’s watches. The great thing about the piece is the different textures of the watch: the dual interlacing chains on the brace, the delicate perforation on the dial, and the sleek smoothness of the watch case add depth to the piece.
Watch’n’Wear: Strap on this timepiece with a flowing blouse and cute pumps: the solid lines of the watch will provide a great counterpoint to the soft ensemble.

The Timeless Trendsetter
Can’t decide which trend train to hop? If you’re loving the steampunk influences, but also enjoy a bit of a hipster vibe with just a touch of intellectualism, then the Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars 26153OR.OO.D088CR.01 is the perfect match. A little touch of classic watch design with modern mechanics, this watch can transition through all your phases. It’s the perfect watch to last beyond this season’s whims a still remain a favorite.
Watch’n’Wear: Grab a pair of skinny jeans and your glasses to play up the intellectual chic feel of this watch.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Steel & Rose Gold Class

Raymond Weil, one of the last independent Swiss watches brand recently released its 2012 edition Freelancer Steel & Rose Gold Class. Designed to reinvent Weil’s classic Freelancer edition first released back in 2007, the Rose Gold Class is made with all fashion styles in mind.

The Rose Gold Class Freelancer watch comes in a round 42mm stainless steel case that is 13.7mm thick and has been polished and given a satin finish. The front face is made of an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The index markers and clock hands are sun brushed silver and coated with a rose gold plate (hence the name Rose Gold class). Both the index markers and the clock hands are coated with a luminescent material, giving the wearer visibility even in low light environments.

The bracelet portion of the watch is made with calf skin leather that is tanned dark brown and given a saddle-stitching with an RW folding clasp.
The watch is based on the RW5000 style chronograph. It has an automatic winding system and a power reserve of 46 hours. Using a push piece located at 2 o’clock you can start, stop and restart the watch and also return the stop watch to zero using the 4 o’clock push-piece.

On the face of the watch there are three extra dials as well as a 3-day date and day window at 3 o’clock.
1. a 30 minutes counter at 12 o’clock
2. a 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock
3. a Tachometer at 9 o’clock

The materials used to construct the watch are from the highest grade steels and crystals. The watch can be taken to a depth of 330 feet (approximately 100 meters, about 10 ATM). Owners and those interested in the watch need not worry about dropping or submerging it as it has been designed to withstand both conditions.

Like most high end luxury watches the price has not been released but serious inquirers can contact an authorized Raymond Weil representative for a quote or contact Raymond Weil directly at their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Although a fairly new company; founded in 1976, Raymond Weil has established its name as one of the most prestigious independent Swiss watch brands. Its emphasis on classic style luxuries that can be worn on any occasion gives it an edge over its competitors. The Freelancer Steel & Rose Gold Class watch personifies the Weil brand.

Raymond Weil Lady Maestro Watches Hit a High Note

If you want a watch as beautifully orchestrated as the Seattle Rock Orchestra, a sense of drama as big as a Puccini Opera, and all the bling a diva could want, then look no farther than the Raymond Weil Lady Maestro watch.
With a fun design that still keeps itself sophisticated, the Maestro hits a high note. Delicately feminine in design, the mechanics pack a powerful punch with classic Raymond Weil know-how in a hand-wound mechanic movement.

Raymond Weil does a great job of allowing room for ladies to accessorize their watches as they please. Love bold splashes of color? Opt for the hot pink, lime green, or cherry red leather strap. Want a more sophisticated look? Try the midnight blue, black, or soft caramel colors—or you can go all out and nab the stainless steel bracelet instead.
The possibilities don’t end there. Take your pick of a full dial or get a glimpse inside the watch with the openwork dial. Feel free to add in the diamond accents or let your own shine speak for itself.
No matter what version suits your fancy, all of the Maestro watches feature mother of pearl dials with clearly marked indices and roman numerals. The large 39 mm case makes it easy to read and won’t cramp your style.

But don’t let this watch’s good looks fool you: with a stainless steel case and anti-glare treated sapphire crystal dial windows, this watch is as durable as it is chic. With a 38 hour power reserve and a water resistance of up to 50 meters, this watch is made to last.
The watch does a fantastic job of bridging tradition and the beauty of classic watch making with a bold modern look. Because it combines both elements, the Maestro is extremely versatile. The fun colors make it a great daytime watch, but the 72 diamonds set into the dial and bezel make this watch shine at nighttime functions as well.
Raymond Weil has crafted a watch sensible enough to work with, but dazzling enough to play in. It’s a difficult balance to achieve, but the mix of color and precious materials reveal the many possibilities of the watch.
Bold, brilliant, and enduring, the Raymond Weil Lady Maestro timepiece has certainly “mastered” its corner of the market. Raymond Weil seems to be right on pitch with their sensible, yet masterful women’s watches.

Raymond Weil Nabucco Cuore Vivo Watch

The Swiss brand Raymond Weil has added a new timepiece to his Nabucco collection and it is the Nabucco Cuore Vivo watch. The name Nabucco comes from the opera by Giuseppe Verdi and this is the fifth model from this collection, following the Nabucco Cuore Caldo, Nabucco Rivoluzione, Nabucco Va’ Pensiero, and Nabucco Inverso. This beautiful new Raymond Weil timepiece has distinctive and elegant features that are sure to turn heads.

The watch is quite large but not as heavy as it looks. It has a case that measures 46 millimeters in diameter and 15.85 in thickness. It is made of matte titanium and polished stainless steel that is water resistant to 200 meters. The crystal, which can also be seen in the display case back, is made of sapphire and has dual sided antiglare treatment. Nicely complimenting the case of the watch is a bezel that has a tachometer and is made of matte titanium and polished steel.

Inside this quite impressive case is the movement that powers this watch. This Swiss chronograph has a caliber RW5400 automatic movement with visible balance and escapement wheels. The movement has power reserve of 46 hours, 29 jewels, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and allows for all the necessary functions. The chronograph functions can be controlled using push-piece at the 2 o’clock position.

The black opaline dial has beautiful details and features. It has checkered pattern and opens at around the 10 o’clock position, showing off the balance and escapement wheels. Three silver counters can be seen very readily as well, which include the 30 minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, the 12 hour counter at the 6 o’clock position, and the small seconds counter at the 9 o’clock position. The hour marker for the 12 o’clock position is marked by a big, luminescent applique Arabic numeral, while there are six luminescent applique indexes marking the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 o’clock positions. The hour and minute hands are all made with luminescent material as well.

The strap on the watch is a beautiful and elegant black alligator style rubber, which is also water resistant. Made for comfort as well as style, this strap has titanium folding clasp that is easy to use. The watch comes in presentation box and there is only 400 pieces of this limited edition Raymond Weil Nabucco Cuore Vivo Watch in the market.
