Does charity giving by watch brands sway us to buy their watches?

With more and more watch companies practicing “Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR), and opening their hearts, and bank accounts, to the less fortunate and to causes that change the world, it is a good time for to consider whether these practices increase their bottom lines. When a watch manufacturer gives to charity, does it convince you to consume more of their watches? 

In other words:

When they give more do you buy more?

Well, the answer could be yes, no, or maybe…Here’s what the experts say:

No way…

(…because you’re too selfish to care.)

If you are selfish enough to spend  the money on a luxury watch, you don’t really care about the less fortunate, and therefore the watch company’s giving won’t make a difference to you.

While individuals can be both ‘selfish’ and ‘selfless’ depending on the circumstances, they can never be both at the same time…

Kobe Bryant Hublot Power King Black Mamba Brings a Come Hither Appeal that’s Venomous


Hublot has ventured into the competitive courts of Kobe Bryant and captured his fierce competitive persona in the Power King Black Mamba watch, to the extent that it brings a come hither appeal that’s so venomous it’s sure to visually stun the fellas.

Kobe Bryant Power King Black Mamba is a limited edition series timepiece of 250 numbered pieces, and is said to be inspired by Kobe’s personality and long standing basketball career. Hublot formally announced Kobe Bryant as one of their newest brand ambassador on March 20, 2013. Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionelle 14-Day Tourbillon goes Platinum

Vacheron Constantin has included Patrimony Traditionelle 14-Day Tourbillon to its Collection Excellence Platine.

Platinum Patrimony Traditionelle 14-Day Tourbillon is one of Vacheron’s elegant timepieces featuring both a tourbillon, at 6 o’clock, and a 14-day power reserve indicator, at 12 o’clock. It has a minimalist dial presentation with Vacheron Constantin signature Maltese Cross emblem to the left of its 3 o’clock hour indication mark.


However, an element that makes this version of the Patrimony Traditionelle 14-Day Tourbillon so distinguished is not only its platinum 42mm case and dial, but its dark blue Mississippi alligator leather strap which is hand-stitched with silk and platinum thread – talk about sparing no expense.

Bremont Watch Company Giles English Hailed a Hero after Crash Landing Biplane

Giles English, UK co-founder of the Bremont Watch Company, is being hailed a hero after successfully crash-landing his vintage 1930 Gipsy Moth when its engine stalled on August 12 around 11:45am.

English, 39, exceptional flying skills were credited with saving both his life and that of 11 year old passenger, Oliver Nuttall, when he crash landed the vintage two-seater biplane in the rough terrain of the National Trust grounds near Canons Ashby House near Northampton.

Witnesses say they saw the biplane whirling around as if attempting to perform a loop, when its engine suddenly cut out and it began spiraling 100 feet to the ground. The biplane appeared to regain control when it suddenly hit the ground with what witnesses referred to as a “thud”.

Both English and Nutall had to be airlifted to hospitals; English to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry and Nutall to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Both have been reported to be well on the road to recovery.

Fortunately no one else was injured. The wreckage of the plane was loaded onto a lorry and transported away from the rugged terrain of the National Trust gounds.
