Boutique Exclusive Breguet Reveil du Tsar

Written by: K. Amanuel

The Reveil du Tsar alarm watch was first introduced to the public in 2003 at Baselworld exhibition. Recently, this classic was reconstructed and the newest addition to this collection introduced. The new Reveil du Tsar Enamel Dial, which will be sold exclusively at Breguet boutique shops, is priced at $40,200.

This boutique exclusive edition watch is crafted in 18-carat pink gold and comes in 39 millimeters diameter and 11.35 millimeters thick case. Inside the case is the Breguet caliber 519F automatic movement. The movement has a power reserve of up to 40 hours and water resistance up to 30 meters. The sapphire caseback allows the wearer to appreciate this complication.

The dial of this Reveil du Tsar is a nice combination of modern and classic look. The watch dial is functional and aesthetically appealing and applies a special technique called “grand feu enamel.” “Grand Feu” is a method of decoration that uses limited range of colors pained onto the raw glaze and fired together to create images that are very clear and easily legible. While complex, the dial is easily readable. The dial is sleek and attractive.

The dial reveals the main feautre of the Reveil du Tsar, which is its alarm function. The alarm can be set on the subdial at the 3 o’clock position, which has Breguet hands. The 24-hour subdial is located at the 9 o’clock position and allows for checking different time zone. The 30-second register at 6 o’clock has dual-tipped seconds hand and is wrapped neatly around a date window. The power reserve indicator is located between the 10 and 11 o’clock and shows power stored for alarm. The alarm chimes using a rapidly moving hammer and gong rings, which can be observed through the caseback. The alarm on/off indicator is located at the 12 o’clock position and the alarm complication can be controlled with the winding crown located at 4 o’clock.

Breguet Marine GMT 5857 Review

If you’re searching for a watch as ready for action as you are, then you need look no further than the Breguet Marine GMT 5857 watch.  Packed with useful features and a unique design, the Marine GMT takes watches into a new zone—a time zone, that is!

Breguet Marine GMT 5857

The Marine GMT includes a time zone dial as a reference for world travelers.  With a power reserve of 72 hours and the self-winding watch caliber 517F watch movement, this watch is ready for any of your voyagers.

The watch is a tribute to the founder Abraham-Louis Breguet’s own line of chronometer watches during the 1800s.  A gifted horologist, Breguet designed many watches for a variety of lifestyles.  The Marine collection hearkens back to the timepieces Abraham-Louis designed for the French Navy.

That is not to say that the GMT 5857 is old-fashioned.  The Marine collection is not only designed with the ideals that made Breguet watches famous in the first place, but also to “meet modern demands for comfort, practicality, and style,” according to the Breguet website.

The brand certainly seems to be living up to its promise.  Encased in a 42 mm 18 k rose gold or stainless steel case, the Marine GMT 5857 seems to hint at a porthole window in a ship, keeping the feel of the watch nautical, but not kitschy.

The dial features gold Roman numeral indices on a rhodium dial.  The guilloche dial face features a subtle wave pattern, picking up on the accents of the case and numerals.  Two smaller dials are set into the face, using Arabic numbers to differentiate from the time.  The interplay of the dials creates a figure eight on the dial, adding to the visual appeal of the watch.

The rubber strap is certainly not an element from the early Breguet watches, but it is an element that the modern watch enthusiast will appreciate.

The subtle pattern on the rubber resonates with the similar pattern on the dial face, tying the whole piece together.  The comfort and unexpected juxtaposition of the rubber against the workmanship of the case provides another modern twist to the standards of the old classic.

It is this mix of the comfort of today’s materials mixed with the high standards of one of the greatest horologists of all time that makes the Breguet Marine GMT 5857 stands out among the competition.  Classic, yet comfortable, this watch is ideal for those who love a taste of adventure and elegance, all in one timeless timepiece.

Breguet Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 Watch Dazzles with Diamond Finesse

Breguet Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 watch dazzles with diamond finesse and an elaborate tourbillon movement.

Brequet has not lost one beating moment of time with its Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839. Breguet merely retranslated the fabulosity of Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5837 into the captivating design of the Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 by adorning it with 11.77 carats of brilliant diamonds and an eye-catching tourbillon.

Breguet Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 enraptures the visual senses with its ornate 43mm 18k white gold case which is meticulously encrusted with specially cut diamonds that simulate the original coin edging of the Ref. 5937. Breguet also employed a set of specially cut diamonds to create the timepiece’s spectacular bezel. As not to spite the dial of this amazing watch Breguet cascaded diamond throughout the inner dial emphasizing and surrounding the chronographs and the tourbillon located at 12 o’clock. The dial’s chapter ring displays applied blue Roman numerals with luminous dot at each hour complementing the silvered white gold dial.

Breguet Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 contains a Breguet Caliber 554.4 manually hand-wound mechanical movement with 50 hours of power reserve. Its balance spring, lever and escapement wheel are all made of silicium. Two sub-dials are accentuated with ornate white gold guilloche discs with blue indicators to read 30 minutes locates at 3 o’clock and 12 hours located at 6 o’clock.

Breguet spared no expense in the elaborate design and details of this masculine timepiece. The artistic structural design standards with which the Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 is handcrafted also reflects the historical and cultural heritage of its founder A.L. Breguet. Each Breguet timepiece design is held to a superior manufacturing standard that equates to horological art. Their timepiece designs are meticulously crafted masterpieces and are often recognized by the brand’s signature coin-edge cases, guilloche dials and blue pomme hands.

Historical enthusiasts of the French Breguet brand include King Louix XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette, Naple’s Queen Caroline Murat and even Napoleon Bonaparte. The Breguet brand has a rich history indeed, A.L. Breguet patented its first tourbillon in 1801. It’s understandable why the brand is sought after even today – innovation, innovation that is articulated in each of its elaborate timepieces.

Breguet Marine Tourbillon Ref. 5839 certainly represents the best of innovative design and elegant styling. This watch will undoubtedly become an heirloom timepiece that will definitely be passed down from generation to generation, but for the current owner it’s most definitely a conversational timepiece – wear it well.

Breguet Continues its Perfect Harmony of Science and Innovation with Classique Chronométrie 7727

Breguet continues with its perfect harmony of science and innovation with timepiece Classique Chronométrie 7727. Breguet famous founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet continues to be the driving force in the development and innovative designs of its exquisite timepieces. Using the fundamentals of research and development, instrumental to its watch making designs, Breguet for its second year revealed and unveiled its innovative talents with Classique Chronométrie 7727 at BaselWorld 2012.

Classique Chronométrie 7727 is a tribute to Abraham-Louis Breguet’s indomitable pioneering spirit of innovation. His portfolio of inventions, to name a few, includes the Souscription watch design and the complex mechanism design for the tourbillon. Viewing the Breguet Classique Chronométrie 7727 it is understandable why Breguet thrives to promote their founders legacy in each of its watch designs. President and CEO Marc A. Hayek supports and cultivates investments in research and development of new technologies and materials, which Breguet successfully filed for over 100 patents in the past 10 years for its for chronometry and acoustic regulators.

Classique Chronométrie 7727 represents Breguet continued quest to accurately measure time. The watch is set in rose gold and exhibits Breguet’s latest innovation. The watch oscillates at a frequency of 10 Hz, a first time milestone for a non-chronograph watch considering the frequency was purposed for precision and stability of a conventional mechanical watch. Increasing the frequency and power of the mechanical oscillation improves the timekeeping performance of the balance and spring.

Classique Chronométrie 7727 regulating power is approximately 800 microwatts; most watches have less than 200 microwatts for chronometer performance. Breguet’s silicon mastery enables this high frequency to be achieved with a conventional balance-spring. Since silicon components are easily manufactured for high precision, they are also exceptionally lightweight and non-magnetic. Therefore the watch is equipped with balance-spring, pallet lever and escape-wheel in silicon; and the mainspring barrel of the watch keeps the watch operational for 60 hours.

Classique Chronométrie 7727 aesthetic features include a 41 mm diameter 18-carat gold case with fine ridges on the caseband, a sapphire-crystal case-back with welded lugs. The dial is 18-carat silvered gold, the engine-turned by hand in six different patterns. Individually signed Breguet and numbered. It has an off centered chapter ring with noble Roman numerals. The power-reserve indicator is at 5 o’clock, small seconds at 12 o’clock, and the silicon indicator tenths-of a-second hand is at 1o’clock with “open-moon” Breguet hands in polished steel.

The movement of this watch is hand-wound numbered and signed Breguet Calibre 574 DR, 14 lignes, 45 jewels, with a leather wrist strap.

Classique Chronométrie 7727 is an iconic testament of Breguet’s commitment to harmonize science and innovation in the development and designs of its timepieces. Abraham-Louis Breguet spirit of perfection lives on in Breguet timepieces.
