Every spring, the Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong holds the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Established in 1975 as a commemoration of Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Hong Kong, the yearly horserace has grown into an international event. Now, to honor the 15th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup, Audemars Piguet has released a special limited edition timepiece.
The new timepiece is being called the Audemars Piguet Millenary QEII Cup 2013 Limited Edition, and it reflects the highest standards of luxury watchmaking.
The uniquely oval-shaped case is crafted from 18-carat white gold. Set into the case and buckle are 339 brilliant cut diamond. The dial is also studded with diamonds in an off-centered circle, boasting 139 brilliant cut diamonds with Internally Flawless clarity. The portions of the dial not encrusted with precious gems features a stunning white gold guilloché pattern. The inner circle is set with Roman numerals indicating the hours, while the outer circle is set with Arabic numerals indicating the minutes. Hour and minute hands are set into the center of the dial, and are crafted from blackened steel. A sapphire crystal caseback with a commemorative label etched into it allows the owner of this magnificent piece to see the movement within. Completing the piece is a hand-stitched crocodile leather strap in black.
