Sneak Peak of New Baume Mercier Classima XL

All luxury watch brands are gearing up for the 2010 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) which takes place in January in Geneva.Baume Executives XL

Many brands are giving sneak peaks of what they’ll be presenting and Baume Mercier is no different. One of la crème de la crème combinations in the world of watchmaking is considered that of complete calendar with moon phase indication. Baume Mericer gives this to us with its Classima Executives XL Chronograph Complete Calendar. The watch also features a chronograph function and a 24-hour indicator.

A 42 mm case and fine details, such as the silvered dial with “grain d’orge” guilloche pattern, a satin silvered surface on the outer section, and subdials with concentric circle patterns at the chronograph counters, make this men’s watch an absolute classic.

The oxidized black finish on the hands add to the classism that Baume watches are known for and they look great set against a silver background. The date hand is “ a keen match for the gleaming golden countenance of the moon on its rotating disc in the window cutout at 6 o’clock. These elements both enhance the understated allure of the complete calendar function with its dual window indications for day of the week and month.”

This watch runs on the self-winding mechancial ETA-Valjoux 7751 caliber. With a power reserve of about 42 hours, the fine details mentioned above and the “aesthetic features the movement offers in this iteration includes Cotes de Geneve patterns on the bridges, a winding rotor with brand personalization, and blued screws; these elements will be clearly visible to the owner, thanks to a transparent sapphire exhibition window in the caseback.”

A leather alligator strap and polished stainless steel folding clasp with classic B&m signature top this handsome men’s watch off perfectly.

Look for this and many other great new timepieces at the SIHH.

Baume Mercier Offers Bigger and Better Riviera Sports Watch

If the summer passed by and you didn’t know that Baume Mercier released two new watches under its Riviera Magnum Sports watch collection, then you almost missed out.Riviera Sport

Two new models were added to the already infamous Riviera collection. Bigger in size and better in design, these two men’s watches do not disappoint.

The limited edition all black chronograph (as pictured) brings many new, unique qualities to the table.  With fly-back function, transparent dial and glowing Roman numerals and hands, this XXL sized watch measures 45mm in diameter (older Riviera models are still large, measuring 43mm). The other new Riviera Sports model is equal in size and features a stainless steel bezel and athletic three-pointer and date display.

Both men’s sports watches feature newly designed cases, with one side shaped like the grill from a car; hollowed hands, a larger crown and a smooth black rubber strap.

Inherent to the Riviera collection are a combined sense of high style, sophistication and sportiness, three characteristics which have become highly desired among those buying luxury watches. These new XXL models further enhance this winning combination, while maintaining the twelve-sided bezel which has characterized the Riviera line since 1973.

If you’re looking for other large and in charge men’s watches, another collection for which Baume Mercier is known and loved for, is the Hampton which also offers a Magnum line, which has super good looking, sporty and elegant watches for both men and women.

Whether it’s summer, spring, fall or winter, any of the Riviera and Hampton watches by Baume Mercier are winners.

The Hampton Collection by Baume & Mercier Celebrates 15 Years with New Watches

Baume & Mercier watches offer a style that perfectly illustrates the values of authenticity, balance and elegance, the symbols of Baume & Mercier watches. The Hampton Collection is one of their most popular and successful lines. Each watch in the Hampton Collection is designed and crafted with impeccable technical quality and flawless aesthetics.

Watches within the Hampton Collection for men and women are meant to mirror a sense of modern relaxation, as based on the Hamptons, the chic vacation destination, located off of Long Island.

This year, Baume and Mercier celebrates 15 years of the Hampton Collection by releasing three new watches. Originally created in 1994, the Hampton has become an icon watch for Baume & Mercier, cultivating a strong following among watch enthusiasts. These new watches take the collection to a higher level and are sure to continue the success of the Hampton line.

There are new models for the Classic, Manchette and Magnum lines. The Classic has a larger case and a small opening located in the top part of the dial that shows the watch’s movement, while blue steel hands indicate the Arabic numerals and indexes. These new Classic designs are shown in both a chronograph and diamond-set version.

The Manchette Two-Tone (gold and stainless steel) is a rectangular-shaped watch that features 28 brilliant-cut diamonds along the case.

The real winner here is the Magnum (featured in the image). The Hampton Magnum is an exceptional watch; its ability to combine a sense of exclusivity and sportiness, give it a powerful feel. This new version still offers the oversized case, constructed of black PVD steel and comes in red gold for men and a satin-finished stainless steel band for the ladies.

Buy a luxury watch today; whether it’s one of the ones from Baume and Mercier’s Hampton Collection, or any other of the hundreds of luxury watch brands found here, you won’t find a better selection at a better price, than here, today.

Limited Edition Watches Added to the William Baume Collection

Named after one of the founders of Baume & Mercier, the William Baume collection is a tribute to the watchmaking skills achieved over the many years Baume & Mercier has been in business.

This summer, new editions and versions of certain watches within the William Baume collection were added. All are produced in very, very limited editions.

Originally composed of three models in 2008, the William Baume collection is now made up of four watches, including the brand new Single Push-Piece Chronograph. This specific watch is historically important in that it is based on the single push-piece function that Baume & Mercier created in 1938. The 18K red gold XL-sized (41 mm) case of this new Single Push-Piece Chronograph comes with a hand-stitched brown alligator strap. Only 20 were made.

The new edition of the William Baume Tourbillon model comes in an XXL size (43 mm). The case radiates the shine of 18K red gold. Only 10 of these watches were made.

Ultra-thin watches have always been known as having superior elegance and technical innovation. Baume & Mercier began to specialize in this style watch from 1920 onwards, and in In 1965, Baume and Mericer created the thinnest self-winding calendar watch of its time. This new William Baume Ultra Thin has a power reserve of 60 hours compared with 40 hours for the previous model. . Its XL 41 mm case is made in 18K red gold. A limited, numbered edition of 179 watches were produced.

The fourth new edition to be added to the William Baume collection is the William Baume Retrograde Second watch, which is distinguished from the first version by its black dial and its black hand-stitched alligator strap. This 41 mm watch is made with an 18K red gold case. Only 179 were produced.

For the best deal on any Baume & Mercier watch, including ones from their ultra famous Hampton and Riviera collections, look no farther than here.

From now until the end of August save an additional 5% on any selected model.

Baume Mercier Knows How to do Cool

Let me rephrase that, here are two watches you can wear to make you feel very cool this summer.

You’ve heard of Baume & Mercier right? Their mantra is: “Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality”, and since they’ve been making watches for 179 years, they’ve pretty much got it down to a science.

Baume Mercier has many collections, but there are two, both named after chic vacation spots, that embody srivieraerious coolness: the Hampton collection and the Riviera collection.

Happen to be headed to the Hamptons this summer? If so, lucky you, if not, check out the iconic Hampton collection by Baume Mercier. The Hampton collection features the lines the Classic, the Magnum, the Milleis, and the Square. Flash one of these babies and maybe you’ll get into to Puffy’s annual White Party.

Now if you’re like me, you’re not going to the Hamptons this summer and you’re definitely only dreaming of going to the South of France. However, what you can do is treat yourself to a Baume Mercier watch from the Riviera collection. These are sophisticated, stylish and made for both men and women. And, they are bold enough that if you did touch French territory wearing this watch, the French would be so kind as to forgive your bad accent.

Baume & Mercier Ilea: Thoroughly feminine and in Harmony with Nature

Just like a flower exhaling its fragrance, the Baume Mercier Ilea timepiece captures the magic that is pure femininity.  Curved with a harmonious form and sensuality that is feminine to the core, Ilea is at once luxurious, elegant and voluptuous.  This is a watch that is a treat for every woman’s senses.

Baume & Mercier has once again outdone itself in this new collection of watches for women.  Featuring diamonds and steel, and combining both satin-brushed and polished surfaces, the Ilea is a study in contrasts.  From its daintily sculpted bezel and seamless transition of curves and angles, the look and feel of this watch is timeless and unique.  An oval dial gracefully interplays with gems at the three and nine o’clock hours, and seamlessly blends with the raised edges and sculptural curves of the bracelet.  It is clear that this watch was designed by women for women, giving it the ultimate expression of luxury and grace.

A particular favorite in the Ilea line is the Ilea 8775.  Set with 28 diamonds on the bezel, against a two tone stainless steel and 18K gold bracelet, this is one truly luxurious timepiece for the sophisticated woman.  Its substantial weight, polished metals, mother-of-pearl dial and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal underscore the quality for which Baume Mercier is best known. Ilea 8775 Baume Watch

It’s no wonder that Baume & Mercier watches are represented by some of the most well known Hollywood celebrities of our time.  For the third year in a row, the official “ambassadors” of Baume Mercier watches are Teri Hatcher and Ashton Kutcher.  In prior years, the brand’s Hollywood luminaries have included Meg Ryan, Kiefer Sutherland, Gary Sinise and Kim Basinger.

Be sure to check out the Ilea Collection by Baume & Mercier.  This gorgeous new Baume watch is a tribute to the many facets of today’s woman.

Baume & Mercier Luxury Watch Hampton Series

This is yet another story about a family with a watch making tradition. But there’s a difference. Some luxury watchmakers brag about experience that dates back to the beginning of the century, a noteworthy thing indeed. But Baume and Mercier (Or at least, the Baume part of this family relationship) has been amongst the best watch makers in the world since the century before that. Since 1830 they have been designing the best high end timepieces and they shown any signs of slipping in their craft.Baume et Mercier Women's Hampton Watch

In particular, the Baume and Mercier Hampton series of ladies timepieces is as innovative as it is elegant. With its rectangular shape face, surrounded by diamond embellishments and its incredibly smooth lines, this wristwatch has a combination of old time charm, modern style, and luxury for any age.

Baume et Mercier Men's Luxury Watch Hampton SeriesWhile this post features the women’s model of the Baume & Mercier Hampton Classic, it is worth noting that both the women’s AND men’s versions are created and designed with virtually unsurpassed mechanics and movements and nearly flawless aesthetics as well. (Of course, unless you are a subscriber to the Elton John school of men’s fashion, I’d suggest skipping the diamonds for the men’s model… just my opinion). The men’s model impresses me almost as much with its black dial with black chrome accents on its sub dials as well as its alligator leather strap which further complements the elegant looks of the wristwatch as does its date indicator which is located at the 6 o’clock position.

Both Baume & Mercier timepieces are extraordinary both in form and function.

Baume and Mercier Riviera Luxury Watch Series

RIVIERA XXL MAGNUM PVD RED GOLD1973 doesn’t rank all too highly on my scale of “fun years in history.” The cold war was in full swing, Watergate became a household word, and the Yankees had a losing record. But all was not lost, because somewhere in Geneva, Switzerland, Baume and Mercier created the Riviera Luxury Watch… and alas, almost literally, time started anew, because the Riviera has since become one of Baume and Mercier’s all-time classics both in style and mechanics.

So here in 2009, at least one good part of ’73 is gracing the luxury watch world. I am looking at the RIVIERA XXL MAGNUM PVD RED GOLD … and I am a big fan.

This is a charismatic watch that somehow manages to combine a rugged, sturdiness with sophistication and prestige: It hits the former with its vulcanized black rubber band as well as with its massive 43mm diameter. But on the class and sophistication side, as the name suggests, it has a red gold bezel that surrounds a very sporty dial.

It also has a vertical porthole on the back of the case that shows the pulsating beat of its powerful and mesmerizing mechanics. (The Riviera is driven by a mechanical self-winding Valjoux 7750 movement).
What are the other main features…?
It is a chronograph with a date function at 3 o’clock. A twelve-sided case of black sandblasted PVD-coated steel and applied gilded Roman numeral hour markers.
Bottom line is that this watch was exceptional in 1973 and is even more so now.

The Riviera Makes an Impact within Baume et Mercier Watches

baume mercier rivieraBaume and Mercier has produced several successful watch styles over the past 170 years, but there has been no watch quite like the Riviera.  Launching in 1980, the Riviera has been one of the most successful and most popular watches within the company.  Because of its versatility and the sporty appearance, the Riviera appeals to everyone.

The physical features of the Baume Mercier Riviera are like no other watch with its glorifying and distinctive gold and steel.  Its unidirectional steel bezel surrounds the black dial that displays the three gray sub-dials.  The steel bezel also surrounds the brilliantly crafted hands and hour markers.

All of the times are displayed in black roman numerals giving it a classy and elegant look.  Although the gold steel is most notable among the Riviera watches, there are also all silver steel and rubber strap all steel black watches to choose from.  For the men, there is the first Riviera model that came out, the chronograph model and the automatic.  Women can choose from the original Riviera and the mini.

There are several features that distinct the Riviera from other watches on the market, but it is its durability and precision that catch many buyers attention.  To display this precision and durability, Baume et Mercier tested the watch by mounting it on the wheel of a Le Mans M1 BMW before the start of a 24 hour race.

Throughout the race, the Riviera withstood the high speeds and the pressure of fast acceleration that was put on the watch.  Not only that, but the watch also was capable of running smoothly with massive rainfall that drenched the course during the race.  If that wasn’t enough, the watch was also able to withstand the force of the spinning wheels and the intense heat from the disk brakes.

After the vigorous test the Baume Riviera was put through, the watch ran with the same type of accuracy it had prior to the race.  It is this type of precision and durability that has made the Riviera one of the most reliable watches you can find.

The accommodation of precision, durability and a classy and stylish physique has made the Riviera one of the most popular watches sold by Baume Mercier.  This sports style watch has a little bit to offer men and women for all occasions.  Whether you want a stylish watch for work or a reliable watch for around town, the Riviera offers just that.  With over 25 years of success, the Riviera is sure to continue selling strong and satisfying customers worldwide.

Baume Mercier Riviera Worth The Price?

Baume Mercier Riviera WatchThere are some things in life you just cannot put a price on and one of those things may very well be the new Baume Mercier Riviera collection.  Although timepieces are intended to show you the time, class and style have become an essential piece to a fine luxury watch.  While it is a hefty price to pay to see the time, the Riviera is all about class and style.

With the cheapest watch in the series for women running at $1,172 and for the men at $1,662, this is far from a collection that anyone can buy.  And that is exactly what makes it so intriguing knowing that not everyone can have a Baume et Mercier Riviera watch.  Some of the other fine timepiece manufacturers like Gucci and Raymond Weil offer reasonable prices for the lower models, but this can potentially take away from the rarity in the name.

It is up to you to decide if it is worth spending between $1,100 to $5,500 for a watch, but it can place you into a specific persona and class that very few can be in.  There is nothing quite like walking into a room and taking peoples breathe away with a glistening $5,500 Riviera watch.

The top of the line watch within this collection belongs to the ladies at $5,350.  This beautifully crafted timepiece has an 18k steel-gold bracelet that fits comfortably on your wrist.  While the bracelet is impressive, it is the case and dial that steal the show with this watch.  The case is 18k gold as well with diamonds that circle the entire case.  As for the dial, there is a sparkling silver background with a white circle containing eight diamonds and four roman numerals showing the time.

For the men, the most expensive watch in the Baume et Mercier Riviera collection is priced at $4,200.  Very similar to the women’s top model, the men’s timepiece is a steel-gold bracelet as well.  What makes the men’s so much cheaper than the women’s is the lack of diamonds.  It has a steel-gold case and a silver dial, but does not flash as much as the women’s with diamonds.

While the Riviera is a magnificent watch collection, it is hard to imagine spending over $4,000 for a watch when the purpose is to see the time.  But you have to look at it as a rare valuable that not many have.  Only then will you be able to determine if the Baume Mercier Riviera is worth the price.
