Tissot watches brand has launched a competition calling on young, talented students to design potential window displays for the brand. The company says that the contest is directed primarily at architecture and design students who would otherwise have had very little experience with working in the watch industry.
According to the company’s website, the competition will officially commence on the 15th of February. The website also elaborates on the primary goal of the contest it to challenge gifted students into using their creativity and to hopefully produce some “clever, bright and perhaps unexpected ideas”.
The displaying of watches is an art unto itself, says the company. The watch you try to sell is obviously the main part, but the way in which a company puts itself out there will undoubtedly affect the public attraction to its specific selection, particularly when one considers the extremely competitive arena of the watch industry.
The Tissot watch company has a long and distinguished history beginning from its inception in 1853, in the Swiss watch making town of Le Locle in the Jura mountains. It is currently a member of the Swatch group, the world’s largest watch producer and distributor and has a presence in over 150 countries.
