Cartier Watches — 16 July 2009

If you own a Cartier watches or piece of jewelry, be careful! From Cannes to Chicago, there have been recent robberies of these luxury accessories.

As reported by the Retail Jeweller, the Cartier boutique on the French Riviera was robbed by The Pink Panther Group, a group notorious jewelry thieves who have made their rounds all across Europe. Police reports say they made off with $13 million worth of Cartier goodies.

On the other side of the world, in Chicago, a woman who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (the store she was in had no money sitting around, so then the robber turned to her) was robbed of $40 in cash and her $7,000 Cartier diamond ring.

Being one of the best known names in the luxury business, the name Cartier exudes wealth, high-society and major brand name recognition. I mean, we all know that iconic red box. Just seeing one is enough to get the pulse going.

From the Roadster and the Pasha, to the Tank and the Santos, Cartier watches are some of the most craved in the luxury goods industry, by both those who seek to buy them and unfortunately, by those who seek to steal them.

And since it’s been noted that Michele Obama wears a Cartier Tank Francasise, it may be safe to say that these watches in particular are now “hotter” than any other Cartier watch. This is good news for Cartier and could be bad news for anyone who has a Cartier watch and happens to be wearing it in the wrong place at the wrong time.

At the least, make sure that whatever you do, you don’t pay retail for Cartier watches! You can get the real thing for much less right here, than if you walked into a Cartier store.

Be smart.
