The Omega Seamaster Automatic Men’s Watch
The Omega Seamaster 300M Professional Diver’s watch delivers precisely as advertised and bragged about. The craftsmanship behind it is extraordinary even by Omega Watch standards – which is no small accomplishment. It has an automatic date calendar function, a unidirectional rotating bezel, with easily visible hands and dial markers with huge
fluorescent marks. It also has an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a locking screw-in crown, stainless steel bracelet, pinpoint accurate quartz movement, and the diving specific stuff such as a push button clasp, a battery life indicator and a forty four hour power reserve (it’s never a good thing to have a dead battery when you are 600 feet under), a helium escape valve and – as the name implies – water resistance to 1,000 feet (300 meters to the non-Americans among us).
Incidentally, the Seamaster Professional Chronograph is one very few wristwatches whose buttons are all water resistant to the point that even the chronograph features will work when submerged underwater.
Aside from the aforementioned specs, another aspect of this watch that folks – divers and non-divers – will love is its size. The Seamaster is a biggie at 42mm. It also has a good deal of density and weight.
There really is a lot to like about all the Seamasters. Aside from their diving functions, they are fashionable, reliable, very accurate and tough. They also have a somewhat unique design – unlike the too often imitated Rolexes and Tag Heuers. And at the same time, while the Seamaster Omega Watches generally match Rolex on the style front, they can often be bought for about half as much.
