Fashion designer Chris Benz made a personal appearance at the boutique to unveil his newly designed watches for the Limited Edition Movado Bold collection, as part of the Artists’ Series. Student artists from the School of Visual Arts in New York City added their touch to the elegant evening as they created “live” in-store paintings. The aspiring artists were told to develop a concept in their original works of art that explored the passage of time.

“I am so honored to be in the respected group of artists and designers who have collaborated with Movado,” said Benz. “There has been such a rich history, it’s almost unbelievable – from Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist to Romero Britto and Kenny Scharf, all have maintained the integrity of the Movado aesthetic without sacrificing their own unique vision. Movado is based in the keystones of art, culture, and functionality, all of which are fundamental to my own collection.”

The Movado Bold collection features a modern, chic style that comes in a variety of designs, colors and textures, composite/stainless steel or matte aluminum cases, leather or silicone straps, K1 crystals and Swiss quartz movements.

The luxury watchmaker has had a long history of innovation and design associated with the arts, supporting New York City Ballet, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Miami International Film Festival, Jazz at the Lincoln Center and more.

The Movado Artists’ Series also represents special edition watches that commemorate the work of legendary artists, including Andy Warhol, Kenny Scharf, Max Bill, Yaacov Agam and Romero Britto.

The Movado “Elapse, Eclipse, Ellipse” by American artist James Rosenquist, for instance, was a limited edition triple time zone wristwatch that portrayed three faces merged together with different abstract designs and colored hands.

The always hilarious Joel McHale is also a known supporter of Movado.
