TAG Heuer Opens Store in Abu Dhabi Mall
Following the lead of other luxury watch brands, TAG Heuer has just opened its first store in the Abu Dhabi Mall, making for a total of eight in the Middle East. Many luxury watch brands have closed boutiques in the U.S. and Europe and headed toward the Middle East, where the economy and people’s spending power has not been as affected.
The store measures 600 square feet and has a modern look; built out of glass and stainless steel. The look is modern, sporty and innovative; the same appeal that TAG watches seeks to have.
The general manager of TAG Heuer Middle East, Eric Vergnes, points out that in addition to its own store fronts, TAG watches, working with distributors, now have 130 points of sale in this region, “making us one of the foremost luxury brands with one of the widest regional distribution networks.”
The company is banking on the fact that those who live in and visit the Middle East and now specifically the Abu Dhabi Mall, will spend money and that the rise in oil prices will fuel a shopping spree. Even now, TAG Heuer is saying that by early next year (2010) another store will open in Beirut, Lebanon.
TAG is hoping that its sporty chronographs will become all the rage in the Middle East, a place where many go for major bling that TAG watches don’t typically contain. However, TAG does have long standing relationships with luxury automobile brands like Porsche and Mercedes Benz for which it has created many exclusive collections like Carrera and Grand Carrera and popular men’s watches like the SLR Mercedes Benz. For women, TAG makes some sporty yet very elegant watches and you don’t have to be an oil titan in order to afford them.
