Movado LogoMovado timepieces are revered as one of the most modernly designed luxury watch brands. The Movado brand is recognized as a symbol of modernism, which first introduced the museum watch in 1947. The museum dial is characterized by a dot at 12 O’ clock, representing high noon. This simple, yet elegant design, has endured all fashion trends over the past 6 decades. To this day, the museum dial is considered trendy, contemporary and classic; virtues no other time pieces posses.

Artist Nathan Horwitt conceptualized the museum dial’s design more than 6 decades ago. It was selected for the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1960, an honor never before bestowed on a watch dial. For this reason, the dials have been branded as “Museum Dials”, and the original watch is recognized as: “The Classic Museum Watch.”

Movado is renowned for its commitment to the arts. The brand has commissioned limited edition series from legends such as Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist. The company is also a major sponsor for the Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts. A 19 foot bronze clock tower designed by architect Phillip Johnson, under commission by Movado, was erected in 1999 at the Lincoln Center.
Movado watches also introduced the Future Legends Program, in which 3 of the country’s most prestigious art institutions come together once a year to recognize the 3 most talented up and coming artists, destined for greatness.

Movado timepieces are art in its most contemporary manifestation. The brand’s commitment to an artistic future in society ensures it will never lose this essence.
