Gucci Brings Equestrian Style to Watch Masterpieces
Looking back to 1921, when Guccio Gucci (yes that was his real name) opened his leather goods company and small luggage shop in Florence Italy, no one would have guessed that this former hotelier could have such an influence on the world of couture. But after spending years at London’s Savoy Hotel watching the upper classes move about in all their finery, Guccio absorbed the aesthetics of English nobility. When he introduced his first collections of Tuscan-crafted leather goods, Gucci enjoyed enormous success within just a few years time. 
While the company has expanded far beyond its original line of leather goods, it still appeals to a highly sophisticated international clientele. Now the collection of Gucci designs includes hats, scarves, shoes, accessories, fragrances, fine jewelry, ties and sunglasses as well as the original handbags, luggage and small leather goods. Oh, and I almost forgot – Gucci designs some of the world’s most sensational watches.
I have always been impressed by the Gucci Style, so I began to search for the perfect Gucci watch to complement my favorite handbag. When I first began my search, I was most impressed by the horse-bit inspired bracelet designs in their Signoria and Tornabuoni collections. I had almost forgotten about Gucci’s equestrian roots, but I remember seeing similar images on their scarves and handbags. These extraordinary horse-bit bracelet designs are like nothing I’ve seen in any other luxury watch collection.
Another impressive selection is found in Gucci’s Twirl Collection watches, with their hinged cuff bracelets featuring the signature Gucci “G” or embedded with Gucci’s green, red and black color bands. Gucci Twirl offers another way to transform a watch into wearable art.
Perhaps the most modern rendition of Gucci-inspired design is represented by the I-Gucci collection of men’s and women’s watches. These Swiss digital timepieces feature a bold numeric time and date, with programmable time zone features. Most of I-Gucci watches are shown with wide, boldly colored bands and some versions include a diamond-bezel.
