Chanel Celebrates Tenth Anniversary in Las Vegas

Las Vegas may be synonymous with glitzy casinos and vibrant nightlife, but Sin City is also a place where luxury fashion reigns supreme. Recently Chanel celebrated its tenth anniversary in Las Vegas with celebrations that included the opening of “Numeros Privees: A Journey Through the World of Chanel.”

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel opened her first shop in 1909 in Paris. Coco Chanel served as the chief designer for the French Fashion House until her death in 1971. The current designer for Chanel is Karl Lagerfeld, a position he has held since 1983. Chanel has a vast fashion empire, with luxury collections for men and women that include clothing, perfumes, watches, and handbags. Chanel operates 310 boutiques around the world, with the Las Vegas boutique being one of 120 located in North America.

The tenth anniversary celebration in Las Vegas, held the weekend of January 21, included the reopening of the newly renovated Chanel boutique. The reopening includes Las Vegas-themed items made especially for the opening. These include a nail polish appropriately named “Gold Fingers”, as well as a handbag encrusted with pink crystal and dice charms. Chanel is located at the Bellagio.

“Numeros Privees: A Journey Through the World of Chanel,” kicked off the weekend. Clients of Chanel and celebrities came together for the installation and dinner that celebrated the work of the fashion house. The installation included 10 different rooms–one of which was a doll-house like room that paid homage to Coco Chanel. The room had wallpaper, curtains, and pillows that were Coco Chanel themed. The room also came equipped with with dolls bearing Coco Chanel’s likeness–dressed in Chanel jackets, of course.

The other areas of the installation included rooms devoted to Chanel’s famous quilted handbag, Chanel’s 31 Rue de Cambon Apartment, Chanel watches, fine jewelry, and perfume. One area that guests flocked to was the arcade game room, where they could try to win Chanel themed gifts. Celebrity guests included Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, and Diane Kruger.

Chanel has a long history of being a leader in the fashion world. With the celebration in Las Vegas, the fashion house has reminded visitors that high luxury fashion is very much a part of the landscape of Sin City.
