Fashion Alert: Luxury Watches Ahead!

gucci designer watchesCalling all fashionistas! If you’re the type of person who buys Balmain or collects Chanel, you may want to look to a completely different sector of the fashion industry for the next big trend. From the way things are turning out, the new It item will be on your hand, and it’s not going to be a handbag. Hold on to your Hermes because it looks like the next big thing in fashion will be luxury watches.

Now, expensive designer watches are by no means a novel item. Just like how Gucci or Louis Vuitton are establishments in clothing, Seiko watches and Omega timepieces are the major players in the world of watches – and they’ve been around for decades. But high-end watches have been enjoying quite a renaissance of late, especially as consumers try to look for items whose value will weather the economic straits – a description that premium watches fit well.

But if you’ve been keeping close tabs on the fashion industry, you’d know that luxury timepieces and prestigious fashion labels have been coming together quite frequently lately. The partnerships and the new ventures have all resulted in a whole new wave of watches that combine the modern ideals of fashion and the classic elegance of premium timepieces. Even now you can find Gucci creations being sold side by side with Seiko watches in premium watch stores.

Numerous illustrious names in the fashion industry have jumped on this timepiece trend. Fashion houses like Gucci, Versace and Louis Vuitton have all been amping up their existing timepiece lines. Renowned designer names Zac Posen, Badgley Mischka and John Galliano, on the other hand, have each teamed up with watchmakers like Morellato to release their own collection of watches. The lineup of new designer watches is reminiscent of Bryant Park’s offerings during Fashion Week.

Your Birkins and Prada pumps had better be ready for some competition. Designer watches have arrived, and they’ve got the whole fashion world firmly by the wrist.

Obama’s Secret Luxury Watch

Obamas WatchPresident Barack Obama is the country’s first African American president and one of the youngest since John F. Kennedy. The country has been enthralled by his charisma, oratory skills and intellect. Besides possessing political virtues and statesman-like qualities, many have made a note of his modern sense of style. Although less important than his promises to unite a nation, many pundits in the media have picked up on the President’s contemporary GQ-esque fashion sense.

On a cold day more than 2 years before making presidential history, Obama announced his candidacy wearing a sleek black cashmere coat over a sharp suit and solid red tie. He was also sporting a Tag Heuer Aquaracer watch, a timepiece well known with watch enthusiasts. During the primaries, Obama’s attire rarely surprised. Sharp suits and sleek coats would always brand the democratic candidate. What reporters and fashionistas did quickly catch on to, was Obama’s taste for luxury watches.
Immediately after the media and bloggers cast a ray of attention on the democratic candidate’s passion for high-end watches, it wasn’t long before everyone would study every photograph ever taken of Obama’s wrist. It became abundantly clear that the only thing Obama liked more than giving packed-house speeches and drawing hundred thousand-person crowds in European capitals was his watch collection.

Time pieces in his exclusive “presidential” collection include Panerai, Tag heuer Aquaracer, Tag heuer Carerra, and with a humbler note: Bulova. Two time-pieces in particular standout as over the top fashion accessories. The IWC Big pilot’s watch is a very luxurious watch with a hefty price tag. Some would consider it a bit too flashy for a democratic President preaching to a recession-stricken America, while freezing his staff’s salaries. IWC is considered a high-end brand on par with Rolex and Cartier, luxury icons that seem a bit out of touch with the general American’s economic condition.

Since his election, the President has toned down his horological exhibitionism, and now sports a secret service watch. The secret service chronograph watch is an independently manufactured timepiece exclusively available to secret service employees. The watch is no less eccentric or exclusive than any other one in his collection, yet its price tag is not offensive to Americans ailing in the economic crisis.

watchesIf you are not aware of the benefits and incentives that lure people into purchasing luxury watches, here are some of the reasons why it can be an intelligent choice. People buy designer timepieces as fashion accessories, investments, collectibles, and precision time-keeping instruments and in some cases because they admire the brand. Breitling’s Unique Luxury Watches

Breitling WatchesBreitling watches have many unique features engineered into their precise movements. The delicate hand craft labor that is invested into each time piece is extraordinary. Each component of the movement is hand finished so that the edges will be smooth. Each edge is polished individually and will have a unique angled finish each time. The reason skilled watch makers take their time to smooth the edges out has to do with reducing friction in the movement, which will allow the watch to work longer with less need of maintenance. Breitling watches are one of the most calibrated brands in the industry.

Each individual watch is C.O.S.C. certified. The C.O.S.C. is The Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute. This highly regarded institution sets the benchmark for precision in time-keeping instruments of various brands. Their certification is dependability watch owners can count on. Certification of watches is conducted through rigorous and enduring tests on the watch’s ability to keep time perfectly. Most luxury timepieces can lose or gain about 15 seconds to a minute and a half a year. This is due to engineering deficiencies during the manufacturing of the movement. If the movement is not precisely calibrated and built to perfection, seconds or even minutes will be lost and or gained over time. This will render the watch owner always on wrong time schedules.

Breitling watches are certified to be precise to 1/10th of a second, and will rarely lose or gain seconds over time if the watch is properly taken care of. The brand is also well recognized within the aviation industry for its great accuracy and various functions, such as the slide rule. In addition to all the functionality and accuracy these wonderful watches have to offer, they also meet the most vane and stylish of fashion standards.

All components and materials employed in Breitling’s manufacturing process are specifically chosen for durability. Crystals are glazed on both sides with anti-reflective elements to reduce up to 99% of glare. Crowns are built of stronger composite metals in order to ensure sturdiness as well as protect the luxury watch by serving as water-tight seals. In comparison to other luxury watch brands, Breitling is the clear choice. They employ the toughest and most quality-driven components in their time-pieces, engineer watches in the most accurate fashion and finally, produce some of the best looking designs in the entire watch industry.
