The famous Breitling for Bentley collection has recently announced two new limited edition models in its collection of luxury sports watches. The collections typically honor the tradition of compatibility between the automotive and watchmaking worlds.
First up is the Bentley Barnato 42 Midnight Carbon. Named after Woolf Barnato, a famous Renaissance man who was widely known for his exploits as one of the original “Bentley Boys.” This all-black timepiece sports a carbon steel body as the name implies, with a 42mm dial that squeezes in three counters each with chromed steel outlines and bright red accents. The Bentley Barnato 42 Midnight Carbon boasts a powerful caliber 25B automatic movement, officially chronometer-certified by COSC. The bezel features detailing inspired by the front grill design of the typical Bentley. The Bentley Barnato will be very limited, with only 1,000 pieces being set for production. A luminescent coating will ensure easy readability of the time in any lighting, further enhanced by the large hour-markers and oversized hands. The dial also features raised edges, with water-resistance up to 100 meters/330 feet.
The Bentley Light Body Midnight Carbon is another limited edition timepiece from the Breitling for Bentley collection that sports a light and sturdy titanium chassis featuring a highly resistant carbon-based coating. Like the Barnato, only 1,000 pieces will be issued of this all-black luxury sports watch. Though the dial may seem crowded, it is meant to be reminiscent of a Bentley’s dashboard, displaying two exclusive Breitling technical features highlighted by the red indicators. Unique to Breitling, the 30-second chronograph system displays its central hand as rotating around the dial in half-minute increments, as opposed to the traditional designed to handle observations based only on 60 seconds. This allows for extremely accurate readings at 1/8th of a second. The case of the Light Body Midnight Carbon is done in titanium black PVD, and measures a diameter of 49mm. It is further coated in sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100 meters. The bezel is capable of bidirectional rotations bezel with a variable tachometer. The variable tachometer is activated through the rotating pinion bezel and is able to measure average speeds for any time elapsed. Aesthetically, the all-black dial and black rubber strap represents strength, and is accentuated by the hands and hour-markers also in matte black. Luminescent coating on the hands ensures optimal visibility at night. The self-winding chronograph movement on the Light Body Midnight Carbon is the COSC-certified Swiss automatic Breitling caliber 25B with 38 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a power reserve of 42 hours. The well-known winged-B logo adorns the top of the central dial, and the black rubber strap bearing the name of the luxurious Bentley brand.
