The new Formula 1 timepiece is probably one of the most eagerly awaited TAG Heuer watches of the past year. Using the sophisticated new technology and top-quality that TAG Heuer watches are known for, this watch represents the graceful evolution of one of TAG’s most iconic timepieces. The new Formula 1 “Grande Date” will be available for less than $1,000, a steal for a watch with Swiss quartz movement. The quality of the materials has been upgraded as well, with brushe
d steel analog numbers, and a PVD-coated steel bezel.
The meaning of this watch’s name, the “Grand Date”, should be obvious (at least to anyone who’s ever taken a French class). But in this case, the date seems to be a bit hidden on the dial, appearing on the lower section of the “seconds” dial. The overall readability of the dial is excellent, with luminescence on both the white and black-faced versions. Bracelet choices include black rubber strap or steel link, but all versions are water resistant up to 200 meters. If you are looking for mechanical movement, the Formula 1 is not available with this option yet. Strangely, no Formula 1 has ever had one.
For a more dazzling – and ultra-feminine – version of the Formula 1, check out the women’s TAG Heuer Formula 1 “Glamour Diamonds” edition, with a pink “Nizza” fabric strap. This all-out luxury edition sparkles with 120 full-cut diamonds on the bezel, and reinterprets the sportiness of the men’s TAG Heuer watches of the same name.
